Medicine Blues

Poor little Jilly has a case of the poops and no appetite from her meds. So we took her to the vet and they decided to keep her for a couple days. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for our little Jelly Bean. I miss her already.

Eating Up

Jilly was feeling a little blue after the vet and was not eating well or taking her pills willingly. So I whipped up a batch of chicken stew and rice for her and it was just what she needed. Her appetite is back and she is taking her pills happily in pill pockets.

Loving Jilly

Jilly is a sensitive girl who loves soft pats on the head and ear scratches.  She is so gentle and sweet.

Treatment Time

My little Jelly Bean seemed off to me and I felt like her fearful behavior might be more the result of pain than actual fear. So we went to see the vet today to make sure she was okay.

The good news is that Jilly's spine was fine on the X-rays, the bad news is that our little one has a case of pancreatitis and heartworms (which didn't show up on the initial tests when she came to LDCRF). The really good news is that we caught it and we're going to treat it so that our Jilly can be the happy, healthy girl she deserves to be. She'll be taking some medicines and undergoing the heartworm treatments over the next month followed by some down time to recover. Afterwards she'll be ready to find her forever family!

I'm in Love!

Little Jilly has turned into quite the love bug and a happy one at that! I opened up her crate this morning to bouncy oodles of excitement. She jumped up to say good morning and raced me to the backdoor. She went outside, did all of her business in a flash and was back inside at my feet looking up at me. I leaned over and went to pat her on the head and she softly gave me a paw. She is simply precious with her gentle sweetness. I am totally in love with her!

Walking with Jilly

Jilly and I went on a long hike today. She is such a good girl and never pulls on the leash, just walks right along with her happy tail wagging away. She passed by all of the loud landscapers and trucks on our walk to the trails like it was no big deal, which is impressive.

We had a great time! She ran up the stairs, sniffed all of the good spots, and watched some squirrels. Here's a video of our walk.

Jilly the Jelly Bean

Jilly's new nickname is my little Jelly Bean. She is our new shadow and has taken up the task of following us around the house with a bounce in her step and a goofy smile on her face. She sits at my boyfriend's feet while he plays his games and looks up at him like he is her whole world. So she seems to be quite smitten with life as a pampered pet.

You can tell our Jelly Bean has had a tough life. She is nervous in new situations and is very sensitive about being touched on her body. She has become a big fan of pats on the head and gentle ear scratches though. She has gotten so comfortable already. She comes over to the couch and just looks at you with those big brown eyes. I even got my first finger kisses tonight! She is quite the cutie pie!

Jilly has arrived!

Shy little Miss Jilly joined our pack of pups tonight! She can be a little overwhelmed in new situations, but now that she has had a few walks and a nice meal she is settling right in. She is absolutely precious!

Meeting Jilly

I met Jilly about a month ago when she first came to Lost Dog and Cat Rescue. I have a weakness for scruffy terriers (that's how I got my Mamah) and I just couldn't help but love her. She was very shy at first, her fluffy tail was tucked under as she walked off of the van with her volunteer. I walked over with a treat in my hand and the tail went up a bit. "Jilly... Jilly would you like a treat?!" Her tail went straight up and a goofy smile crossed her face. What a doll!

So here we are a month later, lucky Jilly got to live with another wonderful foster for the first month of her journey with us and now it's my turn to spoil this shy baby and help her blossom into that grinning pup that I know she is and can be. I cannot wait for my final exams to be over because I know that my first stop will be picking up little Jilly!
